Who we are
Sessions at Tatton Park are extremely varied in their approaches – meet costumed interpreters, tour properties, experience nature or delve into an array of hands-on activities. Tatton Park is the perfect venue for learning outside the classroom, situated in the centre of fantastic parkland with historic properties at the Old Hall, Mansion and the 1940s Farm. Tatton Park is the former estate of Lord Edgerton of Tatton, comprising a neo-classical mansion; the old hall which is the estate’s oldest and most haunted building, a working farm and award-winning gardens. The manor itself gives a fascinating insight into life above and below stairs in the 18th Century. Tatton Park also has a literary link, featuring as ‘Cumnor Towers’ in Elizabeth Gaskell’s novel ‘Wives and Daughters’. The Tatton Park education team is dedicated and experienced and offers an excellent service at sensible prices, so whether you want a short session or full day option, they can be flexible to suit your needs. Tatton Park offers hand-on ‘Living History Days’ in historical topics such as Anglo-Saxons and Vikings, Tudors and Elizabethan, World War Two, Victorians and Medieval history as well as themed tours of the site. Sessions in Literature and Environmental studies are also offered. Sessions at Tatton Park are cross-curricular, visits not only fulfil the requirements of the history curriculum but can also form the basis of creative and imaginative work on language and descriptive writing, mathematics, science, art, design and technology and geography. Tatton Park is in easy reach from boroughs outside Cheshire including Manchester, Liverpool, Staffordshire, and Lancashire.
