Who we are

Situated in the heart of Manchester, the Royal Exchange Theatre is an award-winning producing Theatre. Whilst well-known for producing classics, we're also one of the country's leading theatres for new writing, with over 125 premieres in the theatre history! At the Royal Exchange we want people to get as much out of their theatre experience as possible. The Education Department offers people of all ages, backgrounds and experiences the chance to explore every aspect of theatre and to make the Royal Exchange their own. Work with schools and colleges forms a core element of Exchange Education. For much of our work with the formal education sector we focus on the 10 districts of Greater Manchester. However, we also work with schools from across the UK, and with visiting students from overseas. Key programme strands include: EXCHANGE MEMBER SCHOOLS: Through a package of theatre tickets, bespoke workshops and TEF membership we will support your staff in the development of Drama and Theatre practice in their teaching CREATIVE INDUSTRIES DAYS: Our Creative Industries Days include workshops, talks, demonstrations and theatre tours and encourage students to think realistically about what it is like to be employed in the performing arts sector TEACHER EXCHANGE FORUM: Bringing together teachers, theatre practitioners and educationalists to share best practice and hear about recent and forthcoming projects and events that place creative learning at the heart of the curriculum.
