Who we are

The Mountain Heritage Trust, located in Cumbria, collects, cares for and makes accessible material which documents Britain’s vibrant climbing and mountaineering history.

What we do

The Mountain Heritage Trust cares for and makes accessible over 42 archive collections dating from c.1913 – 2007 containing papers of prominent mountaineers and organisations concerning climbing and mountaineering. We have over 380 items including important and historic examples of climbing equipment comprising of boots, ice axes, clothing, nuts, pitons, karabiners, harnesses, rucksacks, skis and crampons.
