Who we are

The Manchester United Museum offers a range of education programmes for students of all ages. The interactive educational workshops have been developed around the history of the world famous football club and have been designed to provide an exciting and engaging stimulus for learning, all fully integrated with the National Curriculum. The workshops are conducted in the museum and include a behind the scenes stadium tour. The Manchester United education offer is different in that it provides a unique experience for those who many never otherwise have the opportunity to visit a world-famous football club. Even regular football match attendees cannot experience sitting in the dug-outs where the Manager sits, or walking down the players’ tunnel towards the pitch. Those who participate do not have to be supporters of Manchester United or even a football fan; they just need to be keen to apply their learning in a unique environment. KS2 specialist subject areas include Journalistic Writing (Munich Air Disaster & World War Two), Data Handling, Keeping Healthy, The 1960s & George Best, and Living in a Diverse World. The museum also provides presentations and interactive sessions for KS3, 4, Further and Higher Education students on subjects such as Business & Finance, Health & Safety, IT & Communication, World Sport & Community, Marketing, Fitness & Nutrition, Club History, Customer Service, Staff Training & Employment. Education Staff can also tailor presentations and Q&A sessions to meet the needs of individual groups as and when required or to formulate a programme for almost any subject area, mapping learning to outcomes and assessment criteria. The education content is delivered in informal surroundings and enables all who take part to relate theories and skills to real-world situations. This in turn creates additionality and enhances the learning journey.
