Who we are
The Lion Salt Works is a restored historic open-pan salt making site in the village of Marston, beside the Trent and Mersey Canal and close to the remarkable Anderton Boat Lift. This £10 million project opened in 2015 and was voted the UK’s Best Heritage project in the 2016 National Lottery Awards. What we do
Lion Salt Works offers a wide range of education sessions, including History, Science and Geography. Our Sessions are suitable for KS1, KS2 & KS3. In 2017 Lion Salt Works was awarded a Sandford Award: ‘creative and effective programme of interactive tours and workshops that promote enquiry and discovery through hands-on and engaging activities’.
