Who we are
KCC Live is an award winning radio station based in Knowsley, with a focus on young people. Started in 2003 as part of Knowsley Community College, the project has developed into a full time FM Radio station and training centre for radio skills. The radio station has delivered a number of campaigns including those involving anti-bullying and anti-racism, which have earned the support, involvement, and confidence of local community groups and individuals. Events have included many community broadcasts at key times, such as coverage live from John Lennon airport during terrorism restrictions, or Comic Relief events such as a live Sport Relief mile and a 24 hour radio show for Comic Relief. 99.8FM KCC Live boasts over 50,000 listeners and currently has four studio spaces, as well as a productions suite and training rooms. The radio station runs KCC Live Academy, which offers a range of training options to introduce young people to the radio industry – able to cater to all levels of ability. The project offers industry-recognised accredited courses in conjunction with Knowsley Community College, as well as in-house training in presenting, production and news-reading; with a range of training options for those who may require additional educational needs.
