Who we are

Jodrell Bank Discovery Centre is the home of the world famous Lovell Telescope and a hub for science developments and education. Jodrell Bank offers a unique opportunity to experience science in action. Key features of the site include the Lovell Telescope, Space and Planets Pavillions and gardens where visitors can learn all about the solar system and the way in which the telescope communicates information to us about what goes on up in space. Jodrell Bank offers a range of workshops for children and young people from Key Stage one up to A-Level. These sessions involve a close-up view of the telescope along with workshops looking at a variety of different science topics such as the solar system, forces and electromagnetism. Jodrell Bank also offers ‘Planet Path Backpacks’ for children between the ages of 4 and 10 visiting with families. These contain a map, instruction sheet and activities to do to learn more about the planets in the solar system.
