Who we are

Congleton Museum brings the history of this small Cheshire town to life through illustrating its connections to major historical events using exciting and immersive experiences for children and young people. Congleton Museum features a single gallery illustrating the history of the town from prehistoric times up to the present day. The museum is also linked to the Town Hall and is able to offer historical tours of the town itself. Education provision at Congleton Museum is extremely flexible and the needs and requirements of the individual group are always thoroughly explored during the planning of a visit. Workshops are available in various historical themes including Tudors, Victorians and Local History for Key Stage One and Two children as well as the popular ‘World War Two Evacuee Experience’, a full day session that fully immerses pupils in the life of an evacuee (including visiting a real-life Anderson Shelter). Sessions are also available for Key Stage Three and Four students using the wealth of primary source material held at the Museum.
