Carnegie Theatre & Arts Centre

Who we are

The historic Carnegie Theatre and Arts Centre is one of Workington’s much loved buildings and West Cumbria’s premier theatre, entertainment and arts centre. We programme a diverse range of performances, shows and events across the year featuring family shows, comedy, music, opera, ballet, lectures and spoken word events, rock and pop concerts and musicals from the professional touring circuit and from community based performers. The venue is also home to weekly arts participatory workshops.

What we do

We provide bespoke workshops and resources by working with local schools who are leading on Arts Awards / Arts Mark and creative school projects. We also link local schools into our festival programme (dance and music) as well as professional productions with supporting educational resources to take away. The Carnegie also offers a number of classes and activities which lead into curriculm based areas including the Carnegie Music Centre and dance classes (modern and classic).
