This May/ June The Lowry are doing a call out to all aspiring young dancers to apply to audition for The Lowry Centre for Advanced Training (CAT) in Dance programme. 

Whether you have previous dance experience or not, all are welcome to attend a FREE Open Day to find out more about The Centre of Advanced Training scheme and experience a practical and creative workshop.

The Lowry CAT is a part time pre vocational course that provides high quality training for young people who have a passion and a talent for dance. The scheme is open to anyone from the ages of 11-16 years; although once on the scheme, dancers can stay on until the age of 18. 

The scheme is funded by the Department for Education’s Music and Dance Scheme, providing means tested grants for families to enable all young people no matter their circumstances to access the training scheme alongside their studies/ other commitments. 

Our open days & drop in classes are a great way for the young people to get involved, meet the team, ask questions and see how the CAT scheme runs here at The Lowry. 

Our Open Days are as follows:

• The Lowry CAT – Sun 20 May | The Lowry, Salford Quays | Greater Manchester | 9.30am – 1.00pm | Age 11 -16

• The Lowry CAT - Sun 20 May | University of Chester | Cheshire | 12.30pm - 4.30pm | Age 11 – 16

Suitable for students from Cheshire, North East Wales and Merseyside wishing to experience the CAT Scheme.

• The Lowry CAT - Sun 10 June | The Lowry, Salford Quays | Greater Manchester | 9.30am - 1pm | Age 11 – 16

• The Lowry CAT Drop-In Sessions - Wed 16 May  | Wed 23 May | Wed 30 May | Wed 6 June | Wed 20 June | The Lowry, Salford Quays | 5pm - 6.30pm | Age 11 – 16

• Final CAT Audition – Sun 24 June | The Lowry, Salford Quays | 9.00am start to finish at approx. 6.15pm | Age 11 - 16 | Application Forms for the Audition will be provided at the Open Days

We are offering an open day in Cheshire this year, at University of Chester on Sunday 20th May 12:30pm – 4:30pm for young people who live in Cheshire, Merseyside, North East Wales and who would feel more comfortable and more accessible to attend a CAT open day locally to them. 

Also at The Lowry, we are offering drop in sessions for the young people wanting to prepare for the audition process and also get an inside look at the weekly CAT Classes. This is a great opportunity for the young people to experience the CAT first hand, experience the journey to the Lowry and build confidence in advance of the audition.
