First Story is working towards a society that encourages and supports young people from all backgrounds to write creatively for pleasure and agency. We believe there is dignity and power in being able to tell your own story and that writing can transform lives. Our programmes equip young people with the skills and confidence to tell their stories well and to thrive in life and education.

Currently working in four regions across England, we are excited to expand our offer to young people in the north west. We are looking to recruit a Programme & Partnerships Manager to lead on developing and embedding our offer in Greater Manchester. This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and well-networked individual with a strong knowledge of the educational and cultural landscape. You will be a strategic self-starter with lots of initiative, skilled at building strong relationships with various stakeholders including schools, HE, writers and cultural organisations. You will be passionate about improving opportunities for young people experiencing disadvantage. Based in the north west, you’ll be part of an energetic national team in our small ambitious charity.

The role is home based, initially for 21 hours a week with a salary of £28 – 30k and 25 days annual leave (pro rata) plus bank holidays and office closure over Christmas.
